The hospitality industry makes millions and millions of Euros and dollars all around the world, because it is an industry that will always have new costumers.
There are lots of hotels anywhere in the world, on continents, on islands, like: boutique hotel Ibiza and even on water in some countries. The hotels are unique types of buildings which provide accommodation and services that include food and beverage, spa treatments, room service etc.
People usually book their rooms with weeks in advanced, especially in the most popular hotels like Ibiza beach hotel in the Balearic Islands, Spain, because usually clients prefer the same services of a hotel if they enjoyed their stay there.
People choose from the most cheap hotels for a short stay to the most expensive ones, like luxury Ibiza hotels.
The hotel manager can be just a manager of the hotel, motel or resort, or can be as well the owner of the hotel.
A large full service hotel has more key directors that take care of one hotel department and have more people underneath them, other managers in charge of the subdivisions of the departments , supervisors etc.
A large resort hotel will have a General Manager, a an assistant of the General Manager , a Director of Front Office with a Front Desk Manager, a Front Desk Supervisor and a Rooms Coordinator. The Director of Front Office has also a Night Auditor, a Guest Services Manager, which has a Concierge Supervisor, a Bell Captain and a Valet Captain.
Thinking of the department of Housekeeping, we have an Executive Housekeeper and underneath a Housekeeping Manager, a Floor Supervisor, a Laundry Supervisor, a Public Area Supervisor.
The Director of Events and Catering has a Convention Services Manager, an Event Manager, a Catering Manager and a Banquets Captain.
The Director of Human Resources has his own Human Resources Manager and a Recruiting Manager. And the last but not the least, The Director of Security, has a Shift Supervisor and an Information Technology Manager.
Of course there are other management positions if the hotel has a Golf course, a Spa, a Gift Shop etc.
The working conditions for a hotel manager are tough: long shifts, weekends and holidays included in a fast-paced environment and a high level of interaction with people. Depending on the region where the hotel is situated, a general manager might have to know the current events from that town and to attend some weekly company meetings.
